Over 5,000 COVID-19 deaths confirmed in Alabama; Houston County reports highest death total in SE district

DOTHAN, Ala.— Alabama has confirmed 5,038 deaths from COVID-19, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health.

Combined with probable deaths, this makes for a total of 6,030 COVID-19-related deaths in the Yellowhammer State.

Meanwhile, Houston County has the highest number of confirmed deaths in the southeastern district. The graphic below shows that the surge of deaths happened this week.

  • Houston County — 4,578 cases; 85 deaths
  • Coffee County — 2,951 cases; 28 deaths
  • Dale County — 2,626 cases; 70 deaths
  • Covington County — 1,458 cases; 35 deaths
  • Butler County — 1,544 cases; 54 deaths
  • Pike County — 1,191 cases; 14 deaths
  • Geneva County — 995 cases; nine deaths
  • Barbour County — 823 cases; 26 deaths
  • Henry County — 860 cases; 13 deaths
  • Crenshaw County — 867 cases; 38 deaths
