DOTHAN, Ala. – An Ashford man was arrested after police say he allegedly committed multiple theft-related crimes between June 7-15.
Christian Wade Haney, 23, was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree theft of property, second-degree receiving stolen property and unlawful breaking and entering a motor vehicle.
According to police, on June 7 Haney allegedly busted a passenger window of a pickup truck located in the 3700 block of Westgate Parkway.
“Once Mr. Haney had access to the inside of the vehicle, he allegedly took 12 rounds of rifle ammo and the vehicle’s paperwork from inside the vehicle,” Dothan Police Lt. Scott Owens said. “Then on June 14, Mr. Haney located a vehicle in the 3800 block of the Ross Clark Circle, to which he had a key to, and he took the vehicle without permission.”
On June 15, Haney visited a local business located on Webb Road where he attempted to sell stolen merchandise from another local business for scrap. The merchandise was valued at $2,200.
“When Mr. Haney was apprehended, the key to vehicle he used without permission was located on his person,” Owens said. “At this time, it has not been determined how he came to have possession of the key.”
Haney also has pending charges against him with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, where he is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, reckless endangerment, first-degree receiving stolen property and failure to appear in court on a charge of second-degree assault.
