DOTHAN, Ala. – The former Houston County Emergency Management Agency chief of staff has pleaded guilty to reckless driving in Florida.
Rickey Stokes, charged with DUI, would have lost his driver’s license for at least six months had he been convicted of that charge.
An officer arrested Stokes on June 6, 2020 though two breathalyzer tests revealed his Blood Alcohol Content below .08, Florida’s legal limit. Officers are allowed discretion whether to file charges.
Per records, Stokes drove a county owned car erratically along Highway 77 near Chipley.
The Houston County Commission had voted to donate that vehicle to the Cottonwood Rescue Squad, where Stokes volunteered, but ownership had not been transferred.
As part of his guilty plea, he will serve 11 months on probation and pay $1025 in fines and fees, per Washington County court records dated June 21.
Stokes, a blogger, resigned from the EMA following his arrest.
