DOTHAN, Ala. — The Denton Road project has been going on for some time and has created quite a mess on the road.

However, Dothan Public Works Director Charles Metzger is feeling confident about the end product.

“They’re actually I think 41 percent complete and 30-something percent of the time used,” Metzger said. “What we’re trying to accomplish up there is taking that road to a five-lane section all the way down from the tie-in down to the two-lane. It’ll be a five-lane road. The bridge is already in place for that.”

Metzger went on to say he was happy the construction was happening due to the increase of growth that area of Dothan has seen in the last few years.

Denton Road is slated to finish construction this coming April but Metzger said there are plenty of other road construction projects in the near future the city is planning to pursue.

“For us, to be able to move forward with projects to help the traveling public, that’s what we’re here to do to try and make improvements to the roadways,” he said.

Metzger finished by saying citizens just need to be patient and the benefits from the construction will come.

The city is looking forward to finishing the Denton Road construction and moving on to more construction projects.
