DOTHAN, Ala. – The College Football Playoff National Championship game is only a few days away, the Alabama Crimson Tide will face Ohio State on Monday night.
If Alabama takes the win all Academy Sports and Outdoors in Alabama, other than Auburn and Florence locations, will open to fans to get their CFP merchandise. A tradition for many will still be possible, but select Academy’s will have some adjustments this year due to COVID-19. Rather than customers crowding inside and outside of the store in lines, they are to wait in their cars. The Dothan Academy will have these adjustments in place if Alabama wins.
Customers will check in virtually through a QR code and will get put in line by their cell phones, through email or checking in with an Academy team member on site. The customer will receive a text message when it is their turn to go inside and shop. The store will have 10 to 20 people in the building at a time.
Contact between shoppers and items will also be limited.
“We will have an associate behind the racks where the actual merchandise is, so the customers will actually point out the style they want, then we’ll hand them the size to go through the line,” Robert Satchfield, Hardlines Manager for Academy of Dothan, said. “That way we reduce the touching on that product as much as we can.”
