DOTHAN, Ala.— A Guatemalan man has been arrested for the murder of a man on East Saunders Road.
At around 2:15 a.m. Thursday, the Houston County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Coggins Country Estates on a reported edged weapon assault. Upon arrival, deputies found the victim, Mario Cuz Caal, dead from a stab wound to the chest.
The sheriff’s office said Edwardo Cuz Hor, 18, attacked Caal with a knife. Caal’s son woke up and tried to stop Hor but was also attacked, suffering non-life-threatening injuries.
Hor then ran away from the scene, but deputies caught him walking down Hodgesville Road and Middleton Road, taking him into custody at around 3:45 a.m.
He now faces a murder charge with no bond and an assault charge with a bond of $15,000.
