DOTHAN, Ala. — A Newton man will now go to trial for 60 child sex crime charges for allegedly sexually abusing children and producing and possessing child pornography, according to the Alabama Attorney General’s office.
A Dale County grand jury indicted Jason Park, 40, on the charges after Attorney General Steve Marshall presented evidence of his alleged crimes on June 17.
Park was first arrested on 10 possession of child pornography charges on Nov. 25, 2019, but as more evidence was recovered by the attorney general’s office, investigators then found videos that they said showed Park fondling a child under 12 years of age.
Park was arrested five times on a total of 40 charges before getting his bond revoked on Feb. 28. Twenty other charges were added to his record while in the Dale County Jail.
At one point, he was even charged with bestiality for allegedly engaging in oral sex with a male dog, according to a court complaint. This charge was not mentioned Attorney General Steve Marshall’s announcement.
The indictment charges Parks with the following:
- 43 counts of possession of child pornography. If convicted, he could face one year and a day to 10 years for each charge.
- 13 counts of production of child pornography. If convicted, he could face 20 to 99 years or life in prison since the two minors involved were less than 12.
- Four counts of sexual abuse of a minor under less than 12. If convicted, he faced 10 to 20 years for each count.
