DOTHAN, Ala. – Santa Clause was once again in Dothan Saturday, passing out stockings of goodies at this year’s Saddle Up Santa event.

Due to the pandemic, the event looked a little bit different this year. It was held as a a drive-thru event outside the Houston County Farm Center, instead of its usual Dothan Boots and Saddle Club location.

Families were required to stay inside their vehicles and vendors wore masks.

About 20 non-profits and community-based organizations set up along the path, handing out candy, and other gifts for kids.

Several different agency representatives were also on site to pass helpful information about their programs.

“We felt like people really needed this,” said Dawn Greathouse, Saddle Up Santa event coordinator. “The children most definitely needed this to bring some normal. You know, things have just been different for them. We really focused this being more about Christmas and the true meaning of Christmas.”

The Salvation Army and Waffle House also teamed up to provide pre-packaged lunches as well.
