DOTHAN, Ala. – It’s a lunch time favorite, peanut butter and jelly, but it is also a staple for many food banks.

“I think it’s one of those things where it is simple easy, and they have a long shelf life so I think that defiantly helps in providing those to those who may need it,” said Arielle Hooks – Dale County 4-H Club Agent.

And that is the local 4-H Clubs mission, to help those in the community.

“Our slogan is to make the best better. we are always looking for ways to promote and to aid those in the community,” said Hooks.

After a year of many hardships, they’ve set out to bring food banks this favorite staple.

“We are having a peanut butter and jelly drive that can range from anywhere in the wiregrass area from Covington down to Geneva and all of the extension offices are hosting this drive we’re just trying to get as many jars of peanut butter and jelly that we can to donate back to local food bank and pantries,” said Hooks.

Each 4-H Club will donate to one or multiple locations in their area. 4-H clubs will be collecting peanut butter and jelly until the end of February.
