DOTHAN, Ala. – The Tri-State Gun Club Youth Event held Saturday, May 1, in Daleville was a success.

“We had 28 youth—and parents and guardians—from the ages of 8-17 participate in the event which went from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.,” said organizer and Tri-State Gun Club President Ron Wagner. “This event was free for all the kids and included lunch and a goodie bag with stickers, T-shirts, gift cards and more.”

The Tri-State Gun Club, located on County Road 437 in Daleville, has hosted the youth event annually since 2016 “to provide youth and their families the opportunity to come together under a formal program to learn, experience, share, and grow in appreciation of the shooting sports,” Wagner said. “The event themes offered in this program were designed for discovery.

“They provide exposure to the different shooting sports—such as rifle, pistol, shotgun, air-rifle and archery—and offer youth the opportunity to explore them in a safe, controlled environment,” he explained.  We had National Rifle Association and firearms instructors on every stage to give one-on-one teaching to the youth participating.

“We also had some local sponsors that made the day really extraordinary,” said Wagner, citing Panera Bread, Chick-fil-A, Coca Cola, Wiregrass Outdoors of Enterprise Walmart and Grocery Advantage. “And of course all of our volunteers that came out to make this day great for the youth and their families.”
