ALABAMA – According to the statement, the mask mandate is intended to be temporary and will be reviewed after the first two weeks of classes.

Officials have reported that masks will only be required indoors where physical distancing is not possible.

The University of Alabama is encouraging all students, faculty and staff to get their shots as soon as possible.

Dean of the College of Community Health Sciences, Dr. Ricky Friend, said:

“Vaccinations are the key to a successful fall semester and the key to moving beyond these types of requirements. Everyone is strongly encouraged to be vaccinated.”
