Salvation Army starts taking holiday help applications

DOTHAN, Ala. – The holidays are coming closer and community organizations are getting ready.

On Tuesday, September 29, 2020 the Dothan Salvation Army will start taking appointments for families and seniors needing Christmas help. The SA provides toys and clothing for children 12 and under, food boxes for every family signed up for the Angel Tree, and seniors 60 and over.

The appointment availability is as follows:

  • October 12, 13, 14 from 9:00 am to Noon
  • October 15, 16 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm
  • October 19, 20, 21 from 9:00 am to Noon
  • October 22, 23 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm

The Salvation Army of Dothan says applications are by appointment only, walk-ins are not being accepted. To make an appointment call the Salvation Army of Dothan at 334-792-1911. In previous years a requirement for the Angel Tree program was attending a budgeting class, but that requirement is being waived in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Before arriving for an appointment bring the required documentation of the SA will be able to process the application.

Angel Tree Applicants with kids 12 and under need to bring: Valid Photo ID, Birth Certificates of all kids 12 and under, Proof of income in the household, Proof of expenses in the household, Proof of Guardianship (if you are not the parent).

Christmas Food Box applicants for Adults 60 and older need to bring: Valid Photo ID, Proof of income in the household, Proof of expenses in the household.
