After Prince Harry and Meghan announced the news of their daughter Lilibet Diana’s arrival stories surrounding the couple’s choice of name have dominated what should be a time for celebration.

Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, who was born on June 4 in California, is the couple’s second child and only daughter.

The newborn, who will be known as ‘Lili’, was born at 11:40am local time, weighing 7 lbs 11oz.

Despite all the speculation regarding their daughter’s name, the same as the Queen’s nickname, the public have yet to see an image of the newborn.

We also don’t know who the couple have chosen to be her godparents. Recently chat show queen Oprah Winfrey addressed the rumor that she will be named godmother.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight the Royal couple’s close friend brushed off the question saying: “I don’t need to be a godmother, I’m a godmother by default,” she said.

“I’m a neighbor, I’m a friend and all that, you probably need someone younger to be the godmother!”

Oprah has long been a friend to the couple and was a guest at their wedding in 2018.

She then became a huge support after they decided to leave the Royal Family in 2020.

In January 2020 the duke and duchess announced they would step back as “senior” royals and work to become financially independent. They formally stepped down in March moving to Canada and their current home in California.

The couple then confirmed in February that they would not be returning to royal duties and returned their honorary military appointments and royal patronages.

The couple remained out of the public eye as much as possible setting up their own brand and the launch of their website Archewell.

But their 2-hour sit-down interview with Oprah in March put them firmly at the center of the press again when they alleged a series of bombshells which rattled the foundations of the Royal family.

Most notably Meghan revealed that she had suicidal thoughts while pregnant with Archie and that a member of the Royal family had concerns about how dark their son Archie’s skin might be two months before she gave birth.

Oprah later revealed that Prince Harry, who said he would never reveal the identity of that Royal family member, later confirmed to her it wasn’t the Queen or Prince Philip.

The 67-year-old billionaire also said she was surprised by Meghan’s comments.

Speaking on Nancy O’Dell’s new TalkShopLive streaming show, Oprah stated that she didn’t know Meghan would be so up front, especially concerning the problems she experienced within the Royal family.

“I had no idea that it would have the reverberating impact that it has had and continues to have,” Oprah said, as quoted by Page Six.

Regarding the moment the couple revealed that a member of the Royal family had expressed concern over how dark their baby would be Oprah said she thought: “What? You’re going there? You’re going all the way there. The reason why it was such a powerful interview was when you have somebody else who is willing to be as open, as vulnerable, as truthful as they were.”

Whilst the couple conducted the interview for free CBS bought the licensing fee for an estimated $8 million from Oprah’s production company, as per the Express Newspaper.

Oprah Winfrey has also worked with Prince Harry on the Apple TV+ series “The Me You Can’t See”, which aims to encourage people to open up about struggles they have with their mental health.

Harry opened up about the impact his mother’s death had on him and referred to a ‘cycle of pain’ which he wanted to break for his own children.

Prince Harry told American actor and podcast co-host Dax Shepard: “I don’t think we should be pointing the finger or blaming anybody, but certainly when it comes to parenting, if I’ve experienced some form of pain or suffering because of the pain or suffering that perhaps my father or my parents had suffered, I’m going to make sure I break that cycle so that I don’t pass it on, basically.

“It’s a lot of genetic pain and suffering that gets passed on,” he said, adding that parents should be trying to stop that happening.

He said: “I started to piece it together and go ‘okay, so this is where he went to school, this is what happened, I know this about his life, I also know that is connected to his parents so that means he’s treated me the way he was treated, so how can I change that for my own kids?’”

The interview was another blow to the Royal family with royal biographer Angela Levin said his comments had effectively criticized the way the Queen raised her children and the way Prince Charles raised him and his brother Prince William.

The interview and podcast prompted Meghan’s father Thomas Markle to accuse Oprah of “taking advantage” of “weakened” Prince Harry and using him to build her own network.

In an interview with Australia’s 60 Minutes, the 76-year-old said Oprah tricked Harry into revealing things he shouldn’t have said.

“I have things to say. Oprah Winfrey, for one, I think is playing Harry and Meghan,” he said, as per the Mirror newspaper.

Meanwhile Oprah, who lives near Meghan and Harry’s $16 million Montecito mansion, expressed her love for the name Lilibet Diana and would “send them something really special for Father’s Day”.
