DOTHAN, AL— One woman has been charged with a reckless murder after she got into a fight with the victim and caused her to lose her unborn baby.
The Dothan Police Department responded to a call in the 100 Block of Shadowlawn Drive to the fight between two women.
Reportedly, Iveonna Turner, 20 and a pregnant 37-year-old woman got into a fight when Turner hit her multiple times in the stomach, with her hands and feet which made the woman to lose her unborn baby.
The victim sought medical treatment for pain in her stomach area, when it was confirmed that the assault killed the fetus.
In Alabama, a fetus, regardless of its viability, is considered a person.
Turner was arrested and charged with reckless murder and is booked in the Houston County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
Turner had filed a request on Thursday seeking court protection from the woman.
Allegedly, she said the woman and her son, with whom Turner has an 8-week-old child, “jumped” her during a dispute.
