DALE COUNTY, Ala.— Beginning next Monday, April 19th Senior Centers in Alabama will once again open to indoor activities.
But at the Newton Senior Center in Southern Dale County, Mayor Lonnie Daniels says federal CDC guidelines in regard to spacing, makes it next to impossible to open the doors.
For the time being, the center will continue to provide drive-thru and drop off meals for those 60-and-older.
“We appreciate our seniors, we love our seniors and we strive to do anything to help them and we will continue to do so, the best way we can,” Daniels said.
Mayor Daniels says the federal COVID restrictions at senior centers will make it very difficult for these facilities in smaller Wiregrass communities to re-open its doors at this time.
