Man faces drug trafficking charges following chase that ended with wrecked vehicle in Dothan

DOTHAN, Ala. – A Panama City man was arrested Sunday following a chase through two counties.

A vehicle fled when a Henry County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on Highway 431 and County Road 9 late Sunday morning. The vehicle traveled south through Headland and into Dothan. Eventually, the vehicle wrecked at Ross Clark Circle and Third Avenue in Dothan, according to a Facebook post from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office Sunday evening.

Officers say they found over one pound of methamphetamine and one pound of marijuana inside the wrecked vehicle.

Shamar Le’sean Lee, 24, of Panama City was arrested. Lee faces charges of drug trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, attempting to elude, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also accumulated several traffic citations during the chase.

Lee is behind bars at the Henry County Jail, and he has bonds totaling over $500,000, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Besides deputies from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Headland Police, Dothan Police, and the Houston County Sheriff’s Office assisted in apprehending Lee.
