Local resident has pleaded guilty to reckless-manslaughter on Monday

Dothan, AL – According to the court documents, the 40-year-old woman pleaded to reckless-manslaughter of her child that was found inside a parked car unresponsive.

Her name is Melinda Gail King and she was sentenced to four and a half years in a state penitentiary followed by probation for reckless-manslaughter.

The child was pronounced deceased in 2019.

This unfortunate incident occurred on June 28, 2019.

It happened in the 200 Block of Lace Drive in Dothan.

The responding officers found a 2-year-old child, Castiel King, inside of a vehicle not breathing.

The child was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.

Authorities say that the child was left unattended by the parents, Robert Patrick King and Melinda Gail King.

The child exited the home and entered the vehicle on his own.

Both parents were asleep and under the influence of intoxicants.

Both parents were charged with one count of manslaughter each.
