DOTHAN, Ala. – The local chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated is sharing the warmth.

Kappa Pi Omega chapter members are collecting blankets and socks until February 25th.

The chapter wants to round up 200 blankets and 200 pairs of socks for those in need.

Once the drive ends, the sorority will present the donations to Moma Tina’s Mission House who will be hosting a winter giveaway on February 27th.

In addition to helping those in need stay warm, the sorority believes the drive will also show them that there are people who care for them.

“One of the things we want to do in Alpha Kappa Alpha is to really support our communities in a very real way so with the weather being as it is and especially with the weather coming in this weekend we wanted to do something that would have a real impact on our citizens,” says Kappa Pi Omega chapter president Teresa Townsend.

You can take your blanket and socks donations to Greater Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, Family Life Center, Breakfast at Tammie’s, or Cookie’s Café in Dothan.

If you are in Enterprise, you can take donations to Tramaine and Company.
