HEADLAND, Ala.— For the third year in a row, the Headland Mainstreet promotions committee has put together the Under the Oaks event.

The event has music, food vendors, a car show and more.

“We line up the food vendors. We spend months accepting applications for bands and lining those up,” Headland Mainstreet Promotions Committee Director Brittney Tomlin said. “Working with local restaurants and shops to make sure they’re going to be open and offer specials and doing things the whole community is gonna wanna come out for.”

Tomlin said this event is huge for the local economy because of all the community support.

“It’s one of our biggest nights of the year because it brings so many people in that wouldn’t otherwise come to Headland,” Tomlin said. “So you know it’s a really good event for all the businesses on the square.”

Tomlin owns District 37 on the square and has custom Under the Oaks shirts made for the event.

“We have a great lineup for the entire season which goes through October,” Headland Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Adrienne Wilkins said. “So check out Headland Mainstreet their Facebook page, and their new website and you’ll see the whole list of events for the rest of the season.”

The event is every 3rd Friday of each month until from April to October. The first band to play in the Under the Oaks series this year is the River Dan Band which is southern rock and country. To see who else is playing in this year’s series visit: headlandmainstreet.com/events.
