DOTHAN, Ala. — The Wiregrass Angel House is commonly known for its dedication to crime victims and their loved ones, but what you might not know is that Angel House employees have become quite the mask-makers.

“She contacted me about making masks at the very beginning of all of the shut downs,” said Wiregrass Angel House Outreach Advocate Katy Lewis. “I said, ‘yeah sure we can get them.’ She only wanted a few and I was like ‘girl how many do you want?’”

That phone call led the Wiregrass Angel House to not only make a mask for one person, but also for 17 branches within the Five Star Credit Union.

“For them to take time out of what they’re doing for everyone else to help us was very, very much a blessing for us,” said Five Star Credit Union’s Vice President of Marketing and Communications Mike Bridges.

But the story does not stop there.

“Not only for what they did for us, but being a good community partner, what they’re doing for the rest of the community, we wanted to honor that and that’s why we gave them the donation,” Bridges said.

The Five Star Credit Union donated $500 to the Wiregrass Angel House. It is money that will allow the organization to continue serving the Wiregrass and those who need it the most.

“This is a very weird time and we don’t really know where to go from here,” Lewis said. “Donations like that really help us right now and really help us to keep going and see that there is a light on the other side of this tunnel.”
