DOTHAN, Ala. — A Dothan man is facing multiple charges out of Bay County, Florida, for allegedly traveling to meet a minor for sex, according to the local sheriff.

Bay County Sheriff Tommy Ford announced that 38 people were arrested as part of Operation Watchdog, a week-long undercover endeavor to arrest those traveling to have sex with minors and people with child pornography.

The operation took place last week with the participation of seven law enforcement agencies.

“During these times of COVID-19, children are spending more time than ever online,” Ford said. “It is vitally important we remain increasingly vigilant and monitor the online activities of those that stalk our children online.”

One suspect — Neil Hawley, 40, of Dothan — faces charges for traveling to meet a minor for sexual act, solicitation of a minor for sexual act, use of 2-way comms device, and distribution of obscene material to a minor.
