DOTHAN, Ala. — Dothan City Schools is expanding after approval for their state Capital Improvement Program where they received $10.6 million in funds from the state.
Acting Superintendent Dennis Coe said he believes this will improve student enrollment in the near future.
“We want our programs, particularly career tech, to have the most updated equipment, and certainly, what we plan to do with the renovations would accommodate that,” Coe said.
These renovations will impact and enhance the look of several DCS schools. Coe said this is something they needed and believes it will improve morale.
“Our facilities are long overdue an update so the modifications to the gymnasium, our bleachers, they’re basically out of date,” Coe said. “They’re not ADA compliant so the renovations would bring those up to code.”
Renovations will be made to their gyms, the fine arts buildings, convocation center, and more.
He believes these improvements will allow them to touch a broader sense of students with this state of the art equipment.
In addition, their restrooms and dressing rooms will get a much needed facelift, Coe said.
