DOTHAN, Ala.— Many travelers will be passing through the Wiregrass for their spring break destinations and now travelers using electric cars will have a place to stop in one downtown area.

The city of Dothan along with AMEA have built two new charging stations for electric vehicles.

The new charging centers will allow travelers to stop and enjoy downtown Dothan while giving their car the energy it needs.

Officials hope this will give drivers traveling through the Wiregrass an opportunity to stop and explore the circle city.

“What a great benefit to Dothan to attract people passing by or citizens with electric vehicles here to stop here and get a charge,” Assistant Director of Dothan Utilities, Chris Phillips said. “Stop in one of our restaurants or coffee shops or visit one of our vendors.”

Phillips says the downtown electric charging location is just the first start to what he hopes will bring more to Dothan in the near future.
