DOTHAN, Ala. – The Cultural Arts Center is known for providing arts programs and classes for many of the Wiregrass youth. Now the Center is looking for contestants for its’ annual Wiregrass Talent Quest Junior Competition and Show.
The event showcases the talents and skills of young people ages 5 through 18, who will compete for cash prizes, recognition and awards.
Money raised from the event helps funds summer arts scholarships and provides help for the needs of the center.
The Cultural Arts Center has been hit due to the pandemic. Executive Director Ann Cotton says to help keep everyone safe from Covid-19, there are some changes to the competition for 2021.
This year, you are required to upload a video of your talent performance to Youtube and the link must be sent to the Center on the form you receive when you register online.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students grades k-12. Seating is in sets of 4 family members side by side. You must be in the family to sit next to each other.
All youth who are interested in showcasing their talents and skills are welcome to join the competition.
Categories of talent are: vocalists (individual or groups), instrumentalists, dancers (individual or groups), theatrical (monologue, duologue, or scene), or other (jugglers, cheerleaders, magicians).
“Instead of having winners in each division, this year, because we know that revenue is going to be down, we’re going to award a first place, second place, and a third place winner overall, and the fourth place is the people’s choice award,” Cotton explained. “It’s my most favorite category because it’s not based on your talent. It’s based on how many people you can get to vote for you online.”
The Talent Quest is scheduled for February 25th at 7 p.m.
