COLUMBIA, Ala. — Columbia Fire Rescue is starting to see some movement on their new station project.
The City Council approved the department to begin taking bids from different contractors to build their new station.
Although one has not been decided on yet, department officials say it is a step in the right direction.
They just wish it could have been done sooner, as the original timeline would have started construction by now.
“But we were hoping to be building by now,” Columbia Fire Rescue Captain, Daniel Forrester said. “We were hoping to be close to being done by now. But that didn’t work out as you can see. So we’re just taking it one day at a time. We do have a pretty substantial game plan put together now and the ball is rolling so.”
Columbia Fire expects to be finished in about eight to ten months.
