DOTHAN, Ala. – A weekend full of fun is ahead for the city of Taylor. The Taylor Made Festival is Saturday, March 27. The town has been setting up for this event all day .
This is the first time they are able to have the festival since 2019. The city was forced to postpone because of hurricane season and then again in 2020 due to COVID-19, but it is on tomorrow with an abundance of activities will be available for the community to enjoy.
People will have the opportunity to take a ride in the Huey Helicopter, there are over 20 arts and crafts vendors, live music will be playing, several food vendors will be there and people can even ride in a hot air balloon, weather permitting.
Kicking off first thing in the morning is the 5K color run. Registration is from 7:00 a.m. – 7:45 a.m. The race will begin at 8:00 a.m.
There will then be an Easter egg hunt starting at 11:00 a.m. Two eggs will have free passes for the Huey helicopter ride.
The opening ceremony of the festival will start at 12:30 p.m. opening with prayer, a presentation of colors – RHS ROTC and the national anthem. There will also be a presentation of queens, recognition of Dignitaries and a performance by the Taylor Seniorettes Dance Team.
Following that, at 1:45 p.m. there will be a Old Town Wild West Show.
The live music begins at 3:00 p.m. starting with the Sinner’s Gospel. “No Surrender,” Mark Lee and Charity Bowden will follow. Live music will end at 9:30 p.m.
City of Taylor Mayor Billy Snell said this event would not be possible without the city council, city employees and sponsors.
“We ask everybody to come out, of course practice social distancing, bring your chairs, we’ll be sanitizing all day, we’re going to keep this the safest event as possible,” Mayor Snell said.
There is no admission fee. People will have to pay for the rides and food.
