DOTHAN, Ala. – The Houston County Board of Education has held it’s first meeting of the year and Brandy White has made his first decisions as superintendent.

Two of the biggest items on the agenda were the approval of two new principals at Wicksburg High School and Rehobeth Elementary School.

The other, a 1.3 million dollar project to re-roof the Houston County Career Academy, Rehobeth Middle School and the Webb Elementary lunch room.

White said in the 6 years the school system has owned the career academy he doesn’t recall the roof ever being replaced.

“It was very essential, we have a lot of technology in these schools and some of the roofs were leaking bad so it was important for us to go ahead and pass that,” Brandy White, superintendent of Houston County Schools said.
