DOTHAN, Ala.— A bond reduction for a suspect in the death of a Dothan man has been denied.
According to an indictment, Jatavion Collins is suspected in the murder of Neal Craft Barber on Pettus Street in September 2018. Court documents allege that Collins chased Barber when he sought help and dragged him back to Dentavious Givens.
Givens is then believed to have beaten Barber to death with his hands and “unknown blunt objects,” according to his indictment.
Collins remains in the Houston County Jail on a $500,000 bail amount for murder and a $2,500 bond for possession of a controlled substance. Givens is there as well on a separate assault charge.
Alacourt shows that Collins will face a jury trial on March 1 while Givens will face his trial on the 15.
