Authorities investigating after several campuses in Alabama received a bomb threat Wednesday afternoon

Dothan, ALABAMA – On Wednesday afternoon, Auburn University was among a dozen Alabama colleges to receive a bomb threat. The remaining ten institutions were community colleges, including Wallace Community College in Dothan.

Auburn Campus Safety issued a bomb threat warning at noon on Wednesday and evacuated the nursing facility on campus. Individuals were instructed to “be clear of the area until given the all clear.”

The Auburn Police Department arrived and examined the issue and threat.

Auburn Campus Safety issued an all-clear about 12:30 p.m., noting that the “problem has been addressed,” officers had cleared the nursing facility, and “it is safe to resume regular activities.”

Other colleges in Alabama, in addition to Auburn University and Wallace Community College, issued bomb threat warnings in the late morning or early afternoon on Wednesday, instructing students and teachers to leave campus buildings.

According to each college’s social media account, these included Enterprise State Community College in Enterprise, Lurleen B Wallace Community College in Andalusia and Opp, Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Jefferson State Community College in Birmingham, Northwest-Shoals Community College in Muscle Shoals, Trenholm State Community College in Montgomery, and Reid State Technical College in Evergreen.
