Alabama’s spot on list of most-stressed states

ALABAMA – Who would have thought Nevada – home to fun central Las Vegas – would be rated the most stressed state in the U.S.?

A recent WalletHub survey showed money problems were listed as the biggest source of stress for Americans in 2021. The COVID-19 pandemic, listed as 2020′s biggest source of stress, slipped to number two. In all, the survey compared the 50 states across 41 indicators of stress to determine the places where people are struggling to relax.

The data set ranges to the average hours worked per week to personal bankruptcy rate to the share of adults getting adequate sleep.

Here’s your list of top 10 most-stressed states:

1. Nevada

2. Louisiana

3. New Mexico

4. West Virginia

5. Mississippi

6. Oklahoma

7. Tennessee

8. California

9. Kentucky

10. Texas

Next on the list was Arkansas followed by Alabama at number 12.

Alabama ranked sixth in the nation for states most stressed about healthcare, eighth most-stressed over family matters and ninth most-stressed over money-related issues.

And what are Alabamians not stressed about? Work. The state landed at 47th out of 50th when it comes to work-related stresses.

The least-stressed states were Minnesota and Utah followed by South Dakota at number 50.
