ALABAMA – Add one more tornado to the count from Thursday’s round of severe weather.
The National Weather Service offices in Mobile and Birmingham have added one tornado as of Monday evening.
The tornado moved from Choctaw County (covered by the weather service in Mobile) into Marengo County (covered by the weather service office in Birmingham).
It peaked as an EF-2, according to the weather service, but all the details on that storm haven’t been released yet.
The weather service also adjusted the ratings for several previously confirmed tornadoes — upgrading three of them to EF-3s.
The upgraded storms were the Sawyerville-Centreville-Columbiana tornado, the Ohatchee-Wellington tornado and the Elliotts Creek tornado.
The strongest tornado of all of them was the Sawyerville-Centreville-Columbiana tornado, an EF-3 with top winds estimated at 150 mph.
It was on the ground for more than 80 miles.
There were four EF-3s, three EF-2s, three EF-1s and one EF-0, according to the weather service.
The storm surveys aren’t yet done. The weather service in Birmingham said there are potential areas still to survey in Jefferson and Blount counties.
