DOTHAN, Ala. – The number of positive COVID-19 tests at Southeast Health, Dothan’s largest hospital, has reached eight and will increase. Ten others are hospitalized, awaiting test results.

Nine people have apparently died from COVID-19 in Alabama. Five of those occurred at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.

Houston County has reported no deaths but, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health, has five positive cases. That does not include patients treated in Dothan but who live out of state.

Statewide, as of Sunday morning, Alabama has 762 confirmed coronavirus cases out of almost 5,000 tests.

Southeast Health has administered 99 tests, 65 of them negative. Besides the 10 patients hospitalized awaiting results, 16 other cases are pending.
