DOTHAN, Ala. — Dr. Dennis Coe is not a fresh face to the DCS department or to many school districts around the Wiregrass.
He has held multiple positions, always keeping constant relationships with staff and faculty of schools.
“I’ve only been in a week or two you know so I am actually scheduling individual luncheons with the board, try to sit down with them and try to get direction from them,” Dr. Coe said. “I’ve had a good relationship with them in the past year and a half that I’ve been employed here, and you know, just look forward to a good working relationship continuing with them.”
Although the acting superintendent was not overly specific on changes DCS may see in the near future, he explained that he has full faith in his principals and wants to see them succeed.
“Well here my philosophy is I believe in sight based management,” Coe said. “I believe that principals ought to be the leaders of their building. I believe that we as central office staff and superintendent and board should support principals in their work and provide them with the resources that they need to do their jobs effectively.”
Coe explained that he would be honored to take the permenant superintendent position and that he looks forward to taking a step back to see if the changes they’ve previously made will have a positive outcome.
“They’ve got a job, they know what their task is, and we just want to be here to support that work.” Coe finished.
