DOTHAN, Ala. – While most children are counting down the days before they can open presents, others are still waiting for their names to pick from an angel tree.

Each year children on the T.O.P.S. angel tree receive their gifts and meet their sponsors on Christmas Eve, but a dozen kids are still in need of sponsors.

T.O.P.S. says even those who can only afford to donate a few or a single toy for an angel can help make a child happy this Christmas.

Donations can be dropped off at Evergreen Plaza on North Lena Street up until the banquet on Christmas Eve morning.

“We’re just asking to help support because of the pandemic this year so it’s kind of been hard for a lot of parents trying to keep an income especially with us having shutdowns and stuff,” says T.O.P.S. Prodigal Child Project executive director Kenyetta Rich.

The Christmas eve event will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Santa clause and the grinch will be attending.

While many families will be busy Christmas morning unwrapping gifts, Moma Tina, the staff at T.O.P.S., and volunteers will cook and pack holiday meals.

They will then deliver to the homes of families who need a little help this holiday.

They want to make sure no one goes without a holiday meal this Christmas, but they’ll need the community’s help to do so.

“We’ll do 650 plates so if anyone would like to prepare a dish and drop it off at Moma Tina’s Mission House they are more than welcome. We’ll be there 9 o’clock Christmas day,” says Rich.
