DOTHAN, Ala.  — Troy University hosted a watch party at Buffalo Wild Wings in Dothan to watch the No. 15 seed Troy Trojans go up against the No. 2 seed Texas A&M Aggies.

The Trojans were this season’s Sun Belt Conference champs and finished with a 22-5 regular season record.

The women had a successful season last year but the tournament was cancelled because of COVID-19.

This year’s tournament presented a second chance at redemption.

“They’re back where they belong,” said Jonathan Swalley, Troy Athletics Director of Marketing. “They went to the conference championship. They competed. They won. They earned their spot in the NCAA Tournament. And now they’re playing extremely well against the Texas A&M Aggies and we couldn’t be more proud of them.”

Unfortunately, the Trojans fell to the Aggies 84 to 80.

They came back to make for an exciting fourth quarter but couldn’t come away with the win.

This is the fourth tournament appearance by the Lady Trojans but they have yet to make it to the second round.
