DOTHAN, Ala.— A federal website tracking COVID-19 cases in nursing homes is reporting three deaths at Henry County Health and Rehabilitation.

The website compiles data reported by nursing homes to the CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) system. It is maintained by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in Baltimore, Maryland.

According to the CMS, Alabama had 309 deaths out of 1,518 cases as of June 14. Compared to other states, Alabama’s per capita death rate is relatively lower at 20.4.

However, the CMS says this data is considered preliminary and can be subject to fluctuations.

We did reach out to Henry County Heath and Rehabilitation’s administrator, Chuck Houston, but he said that per HIPAA guidelines, they could not comment on residents’ health status, current or otherwise.
