DOTHAN, Ala. — Gov. Kay Ivey has announced that she is extending the Safer at Home order and its accompanying mask mandate to Aug. 31.

Much of Ivey’s original order will remain the same, except this time the mandate requires masks to be worn in schools. This will be required for employees and students in the second grade and higher.

“Each employee, and each student in second grade or above, shall, to the greatest extent practicable, wear a mask or other facial covering that covers his or her nostrils and mouth at all times when in regular interaction within six feet of a person from a different household,” the order states.
