DOTHAN, Ala.— The Dothan Police Department has arrested a Cowarts man for three different sex crimes against a minor.
Dothan police allege that Tyrone Snell, 61, had sexual intercourse with the victim between May and August of 2017. At the time, the victim was under the age of 12.
After this first incident, police say Snell raped the victim again in March 2019, using force against the juvenile.
Lt. Scott Owens said another incident happened in May 2019, where Snell allegedly touched the victim inappropriately. Due to the victim’s age, police did not disclose whether Snell and the victim knew each other prior to the first incident.
A family member eventually reported the crimes to the DPD, resulting in Snell’s arrest. He is now in the Houston County Jail for two first-degree rape charges and one first-degree sexual abuse charge.
His bail, in total, is $135,000.
