Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama Moves Into New Facility

ALABAMA – The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama officially moved into the new West Alabama Workforce and Community Development Center in the heart of downtown Tuscaloosa last week.

The new building will house the Chamber’s staff as well as various workforce and community development organizations, and a Chamber spokesperson said in a statement it will be the only facility of its kind in Alabama.

All this will be housed in the old Regions Bank building at 2222 9th St. in downtown Tuscaloosa, which the Chamber purchased last year.

“The once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is possible because of the generosity and civic-minded focus of Regions Bank, which made the 9th Street facility available to the Chamber at a price below market value,” said Jim Page, the Chamber’s President and CEO.

Construction on a new Regions Bank facility is set to begin soon next door to its former home.

The Chamber’s strategic move has been a goal since their benchmarking trip to Lexington, Kentucky, where the local Chamber of Commerce shares a building with similar businesses to further their symbiotic relationships and increase job production.
