Turkeys from Heaven still in need of turkeys, volunteers

DOTHAN, Ala. – Turkeys from Heaven is less than two days away. The non-profit prepares and delivers meals to needy families in time for Christmas.

With hours to go until the event, organizers say they’re still in need of turkeys and volunteers.

Co-founder Rebecca Marsella says about 200 turkeys are needed to reach the 2000 goal. Turkeys can be purchased at any Dothan Piggly Wiggly store for about $22 each.

Volunteers are also needed at the Wiregrass Museum of Art around 11 A.M Wednesday, December 23rd, to lend a helping hand.

“Anytime after 11 A.M, we will be doing deliveries,” Marsella said. “We need help with people coming to pick up a meal and delivering it to a family. We give you the address, the phone number, and you take the meal and go and deliver it. It’s really a nice way to do something with your family at Christmas, to remember others, and make us all mindful of the needs of others this time of year.”

The organization is accepting monetary donations.

Turkeys from Heaven helps feed families within a 60 mile radius of Dothan.
