Winter coat drive being held for Wiregrass homeless

DOTHAN, Ala. – As temperatures continue to decrease this winter, a local woman is trying to spread some warmth to the Wiregrass homeless population.

Organizer Kim Lovelace is holding a winter coat drive. She’s collecting new and gently-used coats, shirts, pants, socks, scarves, and hats.

There are a few drop off locations, including Dream Chasers, Time Youth Impact Center, and Psalms 30:2 Scrubs and Novelty.

Lovelace says she needs the community’s help to meet a growing need.

“Not only COVID, but the homeless community needs us,” Lovelace said. “A lot of times, people over look them. And I believe they need us the most right now. You know, it’s growing. The homeless community is growing. They are everywhere, and if you are able to give back, I think you should.”
