DOTHAN, Ala. – Dozens of volunteers gathered this morning at the Wiregrass Museum of Art to sort a special delivery from heaven.
“It is holidays and you have to help people out,” says volunteer William Skinner.
Turkeys from Heaven set a goal to collect 2,000 turkeys for families in need this holiday.
The organization reached that goal and was able to prepare 2,000 meal boxes including a whole turkey, green bean casserole, rolls, and a dessert.
Volunteers started sorting around nine Wednesday morning.
From there other volunteers delivered the boxes to families within a 60-mile radius of Dothan.
The organization is grateful for the community’s continual support of the event over the years.
“Without all of the donations it wouldn’t happen so everybody that helps in any way is just the biggest part of it as we are out here lifting birds so thank you to everybody,” says coordinator Preston Hall.
Volunteers included local boy scout cubs and Wiregrass 334 Prevention.
