Dothan bank helps clients who haven’t gotten stimulus aid yet

DOTHAN, Ala. — After the vote to give Americans $600 for COVID-19 relief was passed, money started rolling into residents’ accounts.

Many funds were instantly deposited on Jan. 4, but for some people, they’re still wondering where their checks are. This caused a frenzy at many banks and other financial institutions as people questioned the checks’ status.

This was the case at Midsouth Bank. Mason Morrow, Chief Market Development Officer of Midsouth Banks, believes assistance is needed now more than ever.

“Money started coming into their accounts on Monday on their mobile phone you’ll see those ACH items as they hit,” Morrow said.

Thanks to the pandemic, many people are grasping at straws to find ways to survive. Several people told WDHN how hard it was to feed their families, take care of bills, and deal with debt.

“There’s a need in the community and you know the $600 that money is very much needed. Some people used it to pay rent, buy groceries,” Morrow said.

Tellers said phones were ringing off the hook with customers wondering when and where their stimulus checks would be deposited.

Morrow said deposits will hit accounts soon as they arrive.

Midsouth is also helping those who didn’t receive a stimulus by giving payment deferrals.

Midsouth Bank is encouraging those who did receive a stimulus check to use some of that money to give back and support the local businesses here.
