DOTHAN, Ala. – Getting healthy is a common New Year’s resolution and if you need a little motivation to get you started this challenge might be your answer.
Dothan’s Mayor’ 90 Day Challenge is pushing you to complete a mile a day for 90 days, you can get it done by walking, running, skipping. It doesn’t matter as long the distance is achieved.
The challenge is open to all ages and to everyone who lives, works, or exercises in Dothan.
The distance can be completed while biking and doesn’t have to be done outside.
Dothan leisure services will highlight city walking and fitness trails on its social media platforms and give you the chance to have questions answered, learn about upcoming projects, and get your steps in with walk and talks with city officials including the mayor.
“We’re excited to get people out and about and see the fitness opportunities that are around them that are for free and right outside of their back door and walking a mile a day is something that people can build up to and really get that 90-day challenge taken care of and really start a whole year of fitness,” says Dothan Leisure Services director Alison Hall.
The challenge will kick off Friday morning at ten at the Kiwanis Park Trail at Westgate Park and end on April 7th which is National Walking Day.
Those who finish the challenge will be entered to win prizes sponsored by local vendors.
You can pick up a tracker card at any recreation center beginning Wednesday or at the kickoff on Friday.
