DOTHAN, Ala. – Dothan running back Jaylin White narrowed his college list to 10 on Tuesday afternoon.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound senior listed Florida, Florida State, South Carolina, Louisville, Texas A&M, Memphis, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Mississippi State and Penn State as his top schools on social media.
White is one of the top recruits in the state of Alabama in the Class of 2021. The four-star prospect is currently No. 7 in the state, according to the 247 composite rankings.
“He can be really good,” Dothan coach Smitty Grider told AL.com in May. “He will be a 200 or 205-pound speed back. He can be a change of pace guy, but he could also be a three-down back. Jaylin runs hard and breaks tackles. I think he’ll have tremendous success wherever he goes.”
White started his career at Houston County and transferred to Northview High in January of 2019 before that school merged with nearby Dothan High. He split time in the Wolves’ backfield last fall with Ta’Bryious Webb, who later signed with West Alabama. The two combined for more than 1,500 yards. White scored eight TDs.
“We like to play at least two guys in the backfield,” Grider said. “Times have changed in football. It’s hard to have a guy who carries the ball 25 or 30 times a game and doesn’t get injured or lose a little late in the season. Jaylin is good out of the backfield. He’s a speed runner, a big home run threat.”
